What is Annual Convention?

The Orders & Medals Research Society Annual Convention is the highlight of the OMRS calendar for our members. More than 300 members from across the UK, the EU and from overseas will gather together to celebrate being part the world’s largest organisation dedicated to the research of orders, medals and decorations.

For many of our members, it is an opportunity to take a much deserved break away from their daily routine – and to socialise with old and new friends. As well as the Convention Dinner on the Saturday night, Convention also plays host to the Exhibition, and the annual Society honours and awards and on the Sunday to the Society’s medal fair, which once again is open to members and non-members alike.

OMRS Convention 14th-16th September 2018 – Nottingham Conference Centre

It is with great regret that following two highly successful years in Stratford-upon-Avon, the Society has been forced to change venues. However, with the increasing numbers attending Convention space was getting tight, so we have used the necessity of having to move Convention to take it to a larger and better venue in another region of the UK so that members who have not been recently, or before, can have the opportunity to attend. The new venue is the Nottingham Conference Centre which is located at the heart of the city close to all major transport hubs.

The new venue locates Convention in the heart of England and provides more room for all elements of Convention: this year on the Saturday we will have a dedicated lecture theatre and exhbition space, where previoulsy they had had to share a room. On Sunday we will have a larger space for the medal fair and we look forward to seeing even more dealers. Nottingham, with the backdrop of Nottingham Castle, its ancient caves, the traditional lacemarket, modern shopping centres and the two theatres, provides a great setting for an unmissable event for members and partners alike.

Nottingham's central location is ideal, enabling easy access to members from across the UK in what is expected to be another heavily attended Convention. Whether it is to socialise with like-minded people and friends, to exhibit, or to just look for an addition to their collection, members should put this date in their diary now. If you have not attended in the past, or not been for some years then give it a try!
