The Annual Convention will be held on the weekend of the 14th-15th September 2019, with the Welcome Reception and Early Registration being held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Nottingham on Friday 13th at 19:30.
Looking Forward to September
We are looking forward to welcoming everyone to this year's Convention, which will return to the Nottingham Conference Centre - a radically different type of venue with purpose-built exhibition space and lecture theatres. The light and space this gave the event was appreciated by everyone who attended and it promises to be another fabulous weekend.
The format for the weekend remains unchanged with Saturday hosting the Members' Exhibition and the invited speakers (to be confirmed) which will be followed by the awarding of prizes and Society Honours. In the evening we hope to repeat the atmosphere of last year's Annual Dinner which had a special buzz about it with diners from all over the world, making it a particularly international event. This year the Annual Dinner will be held in the Nottingham Conference Centre and we hope more Members and guests will attend to make it the social heart of the weekend. Sunday, of course, will host the Society's annual medal fair.
Accompanying Partner's Trip
Due to the increasing number of partners who now accompanying Members to Convention, they have become an increasingly important part of the Convention weekend. In recognition of this, this year the Society will, subject to minimum numbers being achieved, host the first Accompanying Partner's Trip on Saturday 14th September - which will be a visit to the magnificent Chatsworth House in the beautiful Derbyshire Dales. The cost will be £23/per person and places can be booked through the Convention booking system.
The visit aims to be very flexible enabling the partners to do a much or as little as they like. On arrival at Chatsworth there is a choice of activities ranging from walking in the grounds and the surrounding countryside to walking round the house and gardens. Please note that while exploring the countryside and the Chatsworth estate is free, entering the House and gardens is charged for. Guided tours of the house and gardens are available separately and booking in advance for these is recommended as they are very popular.
