Wessex

The Wessex Branch began life as the Salisbury Medal Group, with enthusiasts from the area meeting in the back of collector and dealer John Lodge’s shop in the city. In 2001 the Group applied to the OMRS for branch status and became the Salisbury branch of the Society and since then has been renamed the Wessex Branch to reflect the fact that its members come from a wide area of southern England.

Currently the branch, which has some 20 members, holds six meetings a year on the third Tuesday of every other month starting at 19.30 hrs. Typically there are about two talks each year by speakers with the remainder of the meetings being ‘show and tell’ events with members bringing medals relating to a particular theme. All OMRS members living in the region can join and any who are passing through the area are welcome to come along as visitors.

Meetings are held at the Nicholson Centre, RAF Boscombe Down, near Amesbury, Wilts SP4 0JE, which is just a short drive north of Salisbury.
