Convention is back!
The 2024 Convention will be held on Saturday 14th September.
As with the previous Convention, Convention will now start with an informal welcome buffet dinner on the evening of Friday 13th September 2024.
Convention Saturday will host the talks, exhibition and the medal fair - members of longstanding will recall that this was the format in use many years ago.
After what we hope will have been a packed day of activities, there will be another opportunity to catch up with friends and colleagues at the Saturday evening dinner.
Speaker Programme
This year's speaker programme will be announced in due course.
Exhibition
Always a major highlight and talking point, the exhibition always covers a wide variety of themes including the multiple military campaigns, regimental histories, the emergency services, gallantry, long service, foreign decorations and awards and the commonplace and the obscure.
Members wanting to exhibit should contact convention@omrs.org in the first instance to register their interest.
Dealers
There will be a selection of well-known medal dealers including the main auction houses of A.H. Baldwins, Noonans and Spink.
Honours & Awards
At the end of the day, at 4pm the Society’s President, Dr Robin Thomas, will present the awards for Members’ exhibits, followed by the announcement of the award of Society honours.
Virtual Convention - 10th February 2024
The virtual Convention is an excellent way for Members who don't normally attend Convention to take part, especially those who live overseas. In recognition of this we will be continuing to have a virtual Convention, this year it will be held on 10 February 2024 as a live event, with recordings also available for those who can’t join in on the day. We are adding a Virtual Convention because not everyone can travel & because we want to reach a wider audience. We are also trying something new (a live event), to see how it works.
This is not an alternative to a physical convention, but we have some great volunteers with bags of energy who want to take this format forward so we are giving it a go!
